The Partnership Poverty Reduction Project

The Partner Poverty Reduction Project seeks to improve the living conditions of poor households in the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga. Participants receive donkeys, carts and accessories to help them improve food production and earn a better income.

Beneficiaries are presented with a donkey, plow, cart and cultivator.

In addition, the project serves as a link between the Dioceses of Navrongo-Bolgatanga in Ghana and Madison in the United States to strengthen their existing relationship. These two dioceses have formed a partnership and are part of CRS' Global Solidarity Partnership program.

Through the partnership, 50 women in 13 parishes of the diocese participated in the project last year. Each received a donkey, cart, plow and cultivator.

The project has not only helped increase household incomes of the beneficiaries, but also reduced their workload. The donkeys are used for farming activities and for other laborious tasks — like carrying farm produce, water, and firewood to and from the farms.
